Danfoss Airflex Conveyor Clutches & Brakes

Conveyor systems differ in drive arrangement, load and stopping duty. For a parts inquiry, identify the actual clutch or brake on the conveyor rather than selecting a replacement from the equipment category alone.

Manufacturer-documented product families

Airflex options relevant to conveyors

DBA conveyor brakes

Danfoss lists conveyors among applications for DBA disc brakes.

CB and VC drum families

The Danfoss Airflex application guide lists CB and VC families for mining and cement conveyors. The installed configuration remains the ordering reference.

Use these family descriptions to organize your inquiry. The exact assembly, dimensions, operating conditions and equipment requirements determine compatibility. Supply status is confirmed for the specific requested part.

What to document before requesting parts

Conveyor arrangement

State whether the inquiry concerns a horizontal or inclined conveyor, and identify the drive location. Provide the equipment builder and machine reference where available.

Clutch versus brake duty

Clearly label the unit’s function. A starting clutch, stopping brake and another holding device should not be grouped under a single unspecified “conveyor brake” request.

Document operating conditions

Include shaft speed and available duty information with the existing model and part numbers. Mention environmental conditions and any proposed change to the current equipment so they can be considered during review.

Parts identification & procurement

Prepare your conveyors parts inquiry

  • Conveyor identification and drive arrangement
  • Clutch / brake function and complete model
  • Part numbers, shaft speed and duty information
  • Quantity by conveyor line and delivery destination

Provide any original drawing, nameplate photo or previous purchase reference with your email. Keep original markings intact when photographing the assembly, and include units with any dimensions you supply.

For older Eaton Airflex equipment, retain the original identification in your inquiry rather than guessing a current substitute. A visible family name helps start identification, but does not replace the full part or assembly number.

Conveyors: frequently asked questions

Is a conveyor brake the same as a backstop?

Treat them as different equipment functions unless the manufacturer documentation specifies otherwise. Identify the actual installed device before requesting parts.

Can I request parts for an inclined conveyor?

Yes. Include the incline and load context, installed assembly and existing part references. Application suitability must be assessed for that system.

Does a listed family guarantee a fit?

No. A category listing establishes a possible application, not the dimensions, torque rating or control configuration required by your conveyor.

What should I send for several conveyor lines?

Create a separate list for each conveyor and assembly, including part number and quantity. This keeps similar-looking units from being combined.
