Schaeffler FAG Locomotive Traction Motor Bearings

Request Schaeffler FAG bearings for locomotive traction motors from Alpha Trading International. Include the motor model, bearing position and full bearing designation to support accurate quotation.

Bearing designs used in traction motors

Schaeffler’s traction motor literature includes cylindrical roller bearings and deep groove ball bearings. A documented arrangement uses a locating ball bearing with a non-locating cylindrical roller bearing; the actual design remains specific to the motor.

Use the installed motor drawing to identify the required bearing at each position. Include the drive-end or non-drive-end description if documented, together with the manufacturer’s position or drawing reference.

Current-insulated and hybrid bearing inquiries

Schaeffler offers current-insulated bearings and hybrid designs to address electrical current passage in traction motor applications. Preserve any insulation or hybrid specification in the original motor requirements and bearing designation.

State the full reference instead of asking for an insulated bearing by dimensions alone. Include any coating, clearance or cage requirement stated in your documentation. A similar bearing size does not confirm an equivalent specification.

Organize parts for locomotive motor maintenance

Begin with the traction motor manufacturer, model and assembly reference, along with the locomotive model. For a rebuild, create one line for each bearing position with its full FAG designation, OEM number and quantity.

If several motors are being serviced, distinguish the quantity per motor from the total order quantity. Attach the parts list or previous bearing reference and tell us your destination and required delivery date.

Locomotive traction motor bearings: frequently asked questions

Which bearings are used in locomotive traction motors?

Schaeffler documents cylindrical roller and deep groove ball bearings among traction motor bearing designs. The motor drawing and full bearing specification determine the required product.

Can I replace an insulated traction motor bearing with a standard bearing?

Do not assume equivalence. Preserve the motor manufacturer’s insulation requirement and have any proposed specification change reviewed against the motor design.

Why do bearing suffixes matter in a traction motor inquiry?

Suffixes can distinguish required design features. Send the complete designation, along with the motor specification, rather than quoting only the basic bearing number.

Does this page cover all locomotive bearings?

No. Alpha’s offering on this page is limited to locomotive traction motor bearings. The inquiry must identify the bearing within that motor application.
